Shahid Afridi’s gushing praise for Pak Army backfires, cricketer trolled

Following his venerating praise of the Pakistani Army, Shahid Afridi became the target of trolls as many sought to show him the mirror for the problems & crisis that the country was beset with.

New Delhi: Shahid Afridi, the former Pakistan cricketer, has found himself at the receiving end of netizens for his gushing praise of Pakistan Army and also asking fellow Pakistanis to revere them & hold them in highest esteem.

Afridi’s effusive praise for the Pakistani Army comes at a time when the latter is facing strong backlash & criticism for alleged interference in Pakistan’s political affairs.

Afridi talking to a TV channel cited the example of Kashmir and asked fellow citizens to respect the Pakistani Army as they are the ones who serve as custodians of their freedom.

Afridi claimed that Kashmiris don’t have any freedom and if the same is available in Pakistan, it’s because of the Army and one must have high regards for them.

“Enemy cannot destroy Pakistan, but the residents can,” Afridi said as per ConceptTV tweet.

A twitter user mocked Afridi by asking what freedom he was talking about when Pakistan’s former PM Imran Khan was not safe in his own country.


Another user pointed out that Pakistan’s core commander abandoned his house & ran away for life, after some civilians barged into his residence.

“What kind of security & freedom will Pak Army provide?,” he asked.

Pakistan, already in throes of economic crisis, is battling it’s another big political crisis. There is a deep mayhem in the country and citizens are out on streets, loudly & angrily demonstrating against the current dispensation as well as Pak Army.


Imran Khan’s warning that Pakistan is on verge of implosion because of Army-government nexus is finding resonance among people. He said that Shehbaz Sharif govt has plotted to turn the Army against his Army and was thus attempting to crush democracy in the country.

For the first time in history of Pakistan, people of the country have raised their voice against the Army and are making no bones about it.
