Washington [US]: President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump tested positive for coronavirus, the President announced early Friday morning.
Trump Tweeted that he and first lady tested positive for coronavirus and they will immediately begin their quarantine and recovery process.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sent best wishes to US President and his wife who has tested positive for coronavirus and prayed for his speedy recovery.
“Wishing my friend @POTUS @realDonaldTrump and @FLOTUS a quick recovery and good health.” the Prime Minister said in a tweet.
Earlier Trump had Tweeted that he and the first lady had undergone COVID-19 tests.
This comes after Hope Hicks, a top adviser to President Donald Trump, tested positive for the coronavirus.
Issuing a statement, the White House said that Donald Trump “takes the health and safety of himself and everyone who works in support of him and the American people very seriously” and that it followed guidelines for limiting COVID-19 exposure to the greatest extent possible.
Would not order Americans to wear masks
Earlier, President Donald Trump has said he would not order Americans to wear masks to contain the spread of the coronavirus, saying people should have a “certain freedom.” His comments came after Dr Anthony Fauci, the top US infectious diseases expert, appealed to state and local leaders to be “as forceful as possible” in getting people to wear masks in public places.
“I don’t agree with the statement that if everybody wear a mask, everything disappears,” Donald Trump said in an interview to Fox News Sunday.
