US: Covid-19 cases start rising again, numbers rise by 21% in 2 weeks

The recent rise in the number of cases, apart from lower vaccination in various regions, is major because of the contagious delta variant. The vaccines are found to be less effective on the variant as per the reports.

Washington: US happens to be the country with the most number of vaccines to vaccinate most of its population, as compared to the rest of the world. In spite of advanced medical resources and infrastructure,  President Joe Biden’s goal to at least partially vaccinate 70% of its population by Independence Day, fell short by 3 percent. USA’s immunization drive has seen a slower pace since April of this year.

How crucial it is for the US to vaccinate most of its population can be justified by a simple matter of fact that the northeast region in the state has comparatively seen a much lower spread of the virus than that of Midwest and southern regions with lower immunisation.

The recent rise in the number of cases, apart from lower vaccination in various regions, is major because of the contagious delta variant. The vaccines are found to be less effective on the variant as per the reports.

This spiked variant is more transmissible than any of the strains before and is accountable for at least 52 percent of the current cases.  The seven-day average of new cases was 13,859, which happened to be 21% more than that of two weeks earlier, as per the US Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The figure is supposed to rise in the coming days.
