World’s oldest man in Spain, Saturnino de la Fuente Garcia dies at 112

The Guinness World Records holder for being the oldest person on the earth Saturnino de la Fuente Garcia died at the age of 112 at his home in Spain’s Leon.

New Delhi: The Guinness World Records holder for being the oldest person on the earth Saturnino de la Fuente Garcia died at the age of 112 years. He would have celebrated his 113th birthday on February 11 as he was 112 years and 211 days old, as per the statement released by the Guinness World Record. The date of his death is reported to be January 18.

He died due to age-related issues at his home in Spain’s Leon. He was famous for being the father of seven daughters, grandfather of 14 children, and great-grandfather of 22 kids.

Gracia, who was also known as ‘’El Pepino’’, was born in 1909 and married Antonina Barrio Gutierrez in 1933. On the work front, he was a famous and reliable craftsman. He was also a fan of football and had been a supporter of the Leon-based team Cultural Leonesa.

Reportedly, many people used to ask the secret of his long life. To which, Gracia answered the Guinness World Record and said, ”A quiet life, and not hurting anyone.”

During his lifetime, he saw two pandemics that include Spanish Flue broke out in 1998 and coronavirus. Following his death, many people extended their condolence on Twitter.

Gracia’s title of being the world’s oldest man now went to Venezuela’s Juan Vicente Perez Mora. He said to be 112 years, 7 months, and 28 days old. Notably, the oldest person in the world is Japan’s Kane Tanaka who is said to be 119 years old.
