New Delhi: April 22 is the day of Akshaya Tritiya, an auspicious occasion for Hindu and Jain communities in the country. It is an auspicious day also known as Akha Teej, celebrated on Shukla Paksha of Vaishakha month according to Hindu Calander. The word Akshaya means never diminishing, therefore if anyone chants any mantra or does some kind of jaap on this day will get the things as per their wish and will not diminish as per Hindu belief.
It is believed that on Akshaya Tritiya buying gold is considered a good omen, therefore people buy gold or things that are made up of gold on this day. Other than these people visit holy palaces like Varanasi, Prayagraj, and Rishikesh to take a holy dip in the river Ganga.

Significance of Akshaya Tritiya
On this day people worship lord Vishnu who is considered as the preserver God. This day signifies the start of the Treta Yuga in Hindu mythology. This day is also considered good for the start of new ventures in life, for buying new things, and for marriages. Buying gold on this day brings prosperity and things remain with you for a long. People get rid of the malefic effect as well and good energies come to you. Women pray for the well-being of their partners. Donating food grains, clothes, and other items to the needy brings good fortune to you. Fasting, taking holy baths and offering prayers are other rituals followed on this day.
