Delhi-Varanasi Vande Bharat suffers ‘snag in the wheels’, passengers shifted to Shatabdi

Previously on Friday, the Gandhinagar-Mumbai train hit a cow near the Anand station in Gujarat and resulted in a 10 minute halt

New Delhi: Vande Bharat Express has been hitting the headlines for the last three days for hitting the cattle, and today, it suffered a technical glitch. The incident occurred a day after it hit a cow near Anand in Gujarat while on its way to Mumbai.

“The Varanasi Vande Bharat (Train number 22436) suffered a failure due to bearing defect in Traction Motor of C8 coach between Dankaur and Wair stations of North Central Railway”, the officials told.

While the bearing jam was reportedly fixed by the railways, the passengers had to be shifted to a Shatabdi train owing to a ‘flat tyre’ at Khurja Station.

“Detailed investigation of the failure will be done after taking the rake back to maintenance depot”, the official further added.

Meanwhile, on Friday, the Gandhinagar-Mumbai train hit a cow near the Anand station in Gujarat. Prior to that, the train hit a herd of buffaloes, resulting in a dent in its front bumper on Thursday. The train was halted on the route for nearly 10 minutes.

While reacting to the incident, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw had said that such collisions with cattle are unavoidable and “this has been kept in mind while designing the train”.

“Its nose on the front is totally replaceable,” he added.

For the unknown, the newly launched semi-high-speed Vande Bharat Express is touted to be India’s fastest train.
