Mahindra enters electric vehicle segment with SUV, here is whom it will challenge

It would be interesting to see if Mahindra launches its EV XUV400 with an undercut to clash with its sole competitor in the market

New Delhi: Automaker Mahindra and Mahindra is all set to bring their first ever fully electric SUV to the market and have officially announced its forthcoming launch. The company teased with a video of XUV400 on social media, confirming the EV launch to be scheduled on September 8.

Industrialist and Chairman of Mahindra Group, Anand Mahindra shared the teaser video on his Twitter handle with caption, “Today is a very auspicious day, so delighted to announce another curtain-raiser coming your way soon…”.

As obvious from the video, the EV vehicle is a fully-electric version of Mahindra’s existing SUV XUV300 which was previously launched by the firm in 2020. However, the electrified version of the same has been showcased in AutoExpo 2020 under the tag name eXUV300.

The auto group announced that the car will be unveiled in the markets by the name XUV400 only in July this year. Apart from that, the vehicle is a clone of its previous version in all likelihood.

What to expect?

The recently surfaced video features the new SUV with its twin peaks logo with the enclosed grille encircled with multiple X-designs. The vehicle comes with LED DRL projector headlamps from its XUV300 version, while a bit of change in ICE design in expected.

Whom it will challenge?

Mahindra move of bringing the fresh SUV is a move to takle Tata Nexon EV, which currently happens to be the highest selling electric vehicle in the Indian market. Nexon EV’s pricing in the country starts from Rs 14.99 lakh and reaches upto nearly Rs 20 lakh for its MAX version.

Now it would be interesting to see if Mahindra launches its EV XUV400 with an undercut to clash with its sole competitor in the market.
