New BMW X2 has arrived; Got some modern & cool tech and an eye-catching look

BMW’s newest compact crossover SUV, the X2, has an updated look, two available powertrains, and a wide range of state-of-the-art safety and convenience features.

New Delhi: BMW has been slowly but surely building up excitement for the release of the next-generation X2 crossover. The German luxury manufacturer presented the vehicle on Wednesday.

It will be shown to the public for the first time at the Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo later this month, with a possible release in the Indian market to follow.

BMW’s newest compact crossover SUV, the X2, has an updated look, two available powertrains, and a wide range of state-of-the-art safety and convenience features.

Looks and Design of the Car Model

The current generation of the BMW X2 can be easily distinguished from its predecessor because of its unique exterior styling. The new X2 has a more upright front profile, wide wheel arches, and a strong rear, all of which combine to give the vehicle a coupe-like roofline that flows into the back.

The vehicle’s LED headlights and taillights have been recently upgraded. The X2 is visually distinct from the X1 thanks to the optional lighted kidney grille. More importantly, the new X2 has the first available 21-inch wheels of any of the automaker’s small crossovers.

The integrated door handles and smooth, streamlined surfaces of the car’s side profile improve its aerodynamic performance.

BMW claims that the new X2 is 7.6 inches longer in total at 179.8 inches, with a wheelbase that is 0.9 inches longer.

Features Available

The new BMW X2 has more room for passengers inside, a new BMW Curved Display that prioritises touch and voice control, and BMW iDrive 9. The BMW Curved Display combines the vehicle’s instrument cluster (10.25 inches) and infotainment display (10.7 inches) into a single, sleek glass panel.

One of the most notable updates is a camera installed in the cabin that can take still images and video.

The xDrive28i model of the new X2 is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine that generates 241 hp and allows the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds. The most powerful X2 has a 2.0-litre engine that generates 312 hp and can accelerate the SUV to 100 kilometres per hour in only 5.2 seconds.

BMW has not yet released the X2 in India, although the newest generation of the X1 and the iX1 are also available here.
