Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 spotted for test drive in public roads for first time

The new Himalayan 450 also has specific design changes over the current Himalayan 411.

New Delhi: A test drive of Royal Enfield’s upcoming 450 cc adventure bike has taken place for the first time on public roads. The Himalayan 450 is based on an all-new platform, including a new 450 cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that will generate around 40 bhp. It can travel at least 200 mm travel and will come with a 21-inch front wheel, 17-inch rear wheel combination. It will come with new styling to differentiate it from the current Himalayan 411.

The new Himalayan 450 also has specific design changes over the current Himalayan 411. The face showcased is sleeker and sharper, besides, the round headlight is retained. It features a short windscreen, split seats, upswept side-mounted exhaust, and spoked wheels. It has also a signature “beak” upfront along with a half-front mudguard.

The spy shot is currently available as Royal Enfield looks to step up testing of the upcoming Himalayan 450 on public roads. This new motorcycle will be better in regards to performance than the current Himalayan 411. However, the launch date has still not been revealed yet.

In terms of price, the new bike will be around Rs 2.7-3 lakh, sometimes in the first half of 2023. After being launched, the new Himalayan 450 will overdo the adventure touring motorcycles like the KTM 390 Adventure and BMW G 310 GS.

Meanwhile, it is not clear whether the new Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 will replace the current Himalayan 411 or remain alongside in the Royal Enfield portfolio. It is predicted that the new Himalayan 450 will be a new and more modern and performance-oriented replacement for the current Himalayan 411.
