New Delhi: Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) is planning to launch its CNG version of the premium hatchback Glanza, which is based on the Maruti Suzuki Baleno. TKM has already hinted at launching the upcoming Glanza CNG hatchback on its website, revealing the possible fuel efficiency at 25 kmpl. However, the makers later rescind the post.
Besides, the post notified that the upcoming CNG variant of the car will be touted as Toyota Glanza e-CNG.
The makers did not reveal any details about the date of its launch. However, it is expected to come to the showroom by next month. Moreover, it will work with the same K-Series engine that works under the recently launched new Glanza.
Notably, TKM launched the 2022 Glanza a few days ago at a starting price of Rs 6.39 lakh (ex-showroom). It is expected that the CNG version of the car will cost higher. It could be priced at around Rs 70,000 higher than the petrol variant.
Both, Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Toyota Glanza share the same features namely 1.2 litre petrol engine that provides 90 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque output. Both offered the same five-speed manual gearbox and a five-speed AMT gearbox option. With the announcement of the launch of Glanza CNG, it is predicted that a Baleno CNG too is under development.
Meanwhile, CNG is considered to be a cleaner and greener fuel alternative as compared to petrol and diesel. CNG comes at cheaper and offers much better mileage. It is also a more cost-effective fuel.
