SEBI appoints Ashish Kumar Chauhan as next MD & CEO of NSE

After the completion of his five year tenure in the company, former CEO Vikram Limaye seeks not to extend his services at the exchange

New Delhi: Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has announced the appointment of Ashish Kumar Chauhan to be the new CEO and Managing Director of the National Stock Exchange (NSE).

Chauhan will replace Vikram Limaye, whose tenure at NSE ended on July 16. At present, Chauhan is the MD and CEO of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

The executions of the company will be looked after by an internal executive committee till Chauhan take over the charge as new MD and CEO.

The newly formed commitee by the governing body of NSE includes – chief regulatory officer Priya Subramaniam, group CFO and head of corporate  affairs Yatrik Wing, chief enterprise risk and information security officer Somasundaram KS, and chief technology and operations officer Shiv Bhasin.

The functioning of the commitee will be terminated as soon as Chauhan take over his responsibilities at NSE. The company is expected to make an official announcement regarding the appointment on July 18.

On the last day of his service, Limaye said that he did his very best to stabilize and develop the exchange amidst a difficult time.

For the not known, Limaye’s termination of services comes at a time when the bourse is facing probe regarding lapses at the exchange and in the co-location issue.
