10 states contribute to 80% Covid-19 cases, Maharashtra and Kerala worst affected

According to the official statistics, 10 states account for 80% fo Covid-19 cases in the country out of which Maharashtra and Kerala are major contributors.

New Delhi: With the government implementing 21-day lockdown early to arrest the spread of Covid-19, the nation remains much in control of the situation arising due to Coronavirus. Though, the Corona+ cases have surged in last few days, the doubling of cases is still happening in more than 3 days.

The pandemic has largely remained centric to about 150 districts in the country and the dreaded community spread is yet not seen, says the government.

According to the official statistics,  10 states account for 80% fo Covid-19 cases in the country out of which Maharashtra and Kerala are major contributors.

Maharashtra and Kerala have highest number of confirmed Corona cases. Karnataka is another state where the growth of Coronavirus cases have witnessed sudden spurt in last few days.

These states fall in high risk category as the Corona+ cases are doubling in these states at much faster rate than the average rate of the country.

8.2 lakh Covid-19 cases if no lockdown

According to statistics, states like Kerala, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan have low mortality rates despite high number of cases.

According to Union Health Ministry, the number of coronavirus cases in the country could have increased to 8.2 lakh by April 15 had India not implemented a lockdown and put in place other containment measures.

“According to statistical analysis, India would have registered a 41% cumulative rise in the number of cases, taking the total to 2.08 lakh on April 11 and 8.2 lakh by April 15 had there been no lockdown or other containment measures,” the officer said.
