Gujarat: Thousands flocked to wedding party hosted by BJP leader amidst Covid-19 surge

Gujarat government has imposed restrictions in the state owing to the sudden outbreak of Covid-19. However, the restriction went on a toss after thousands of people attended a wedding party organised by a BJP leader in the Tapi district.

A video has gone viral on social media which shows thousands of people dancing to the music played by the DJ in the wedding hosted by the BJP leader.

The state government has issued guidelines stating that not more than 150 people can attend a wedding. However, the rules were dismissed by the people in the Dolvan block of the Tapi district as thousands of people flocked to the wedding hosted by the family of a local BJP leader and deputy president of Dolvan tehsil Sunanda.

Police have taken action against such carelessness amidst rising cases of Covid-19 in the country. They are probing into the matter as well.

The third wave of Covid-19 has lashed in Gujarat. Besides, on Monday, the state witnessed 12,753 new cases of Covid-19 and five fresh deaths. Currently, the state has over 70,000 active cases of Covid-19.

The state government has imposed a night curfew between 10 PM and 6 AM in ten cities experiencing major Covid-19 cases. Notably, education institutes have been closed and are back to online classes till January 31.
