CBSE to announce results even for students who skipped either of the two terms of boards

Moreover, students who have not appeared for the term 1 exams will be allowed to sit for term 2 exams. These students will receive their results like every other student.

New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will evaluate results for students even those who have missed either term 1 or term 2 board exams, said the board while addressing schools during a special webinar session held before the term 2 exams. The term 2 board exams for classes 10 and 12 are scheduled to hold on April 26. Over 35 lakh students will be appearing this year for the board exam.

Moreover, students who have not appeared for the term 1 exams will be allowed to sit for term 2 exams. These students will receive their results like every other student. This is also applicable for the students who failed to take term 2 exams, however, there needs to be a substantial reason for not appearing for the exam. If the reasons are justified, CBSE will calculate the result for such students.

CBSE is yet to announce the formulae for calculating the results. The result will be evaluated on the basis of term 1, term 2, and internal assessment. However, the exact marks that these three components will carry are not announced yet. Board will tweak the formula accordingly if students have not appeared for any one of the exams.

However, if the students are absent in both term 1 and term 2 exams, the board will not be able to calculate results for those students. Those concerned students have to appear for the exam next year. Previously, there was a demand to allow those students to appear for compartment exams, however, now the board is planning to hold the compartment exams for all subjects on the same day. Thus, absentees will not be allowed to take compartmental exams as a substitute.

Covid-19 students allowed to give exam

Students who are positive for Covid-19 would also be allowed to give the exams, however, they will have to seat in isolated rooms. Further details will be shared by students in the coming days. If any student or their parents catch the virus, they will have to inform the authority.

CBSE

This is the first time, CBSE is holding exams twice a year. The term 1 exams have been already held and term 2 exams will begin soon. Term 1 was based on MCQ format and term 2 will be a written exam held for the first time after two years.

CBSE said that it is “working for students” and in all cases will try to find out the “best” that could be done to ensure students are not at loss.
