Dr Smita Singh is proud of her achievements today. She kept juggling between office assignmets and PhD. It’s because of her persistent hard work and endeavour that her dream came true after a gap of 31 years.

New Delhi: They say – where there is a will, there is a way. This proverb fits true on Dr Smita Singh, Regional Manager of Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA). She has realized her dream of becoming a PhD holder after a long and strenuous gap of 31 years.

Exhibiting a rare feat among her contemporaries, Dr Smita Singh managed to juggle between her office work and PhD thesis all these years to achieve this target.

Dr Smita Singh has been a gold medallist in Management from Allahabad University and also qualified for UGC NET in 1990 to pursue her PhD but she got into public service. Since, this was a full time job, her PhD dream had to take a backseat. However, she never gave up that dream and kept pursuing it in free time. It’s because of her persistent hard work and endeavour that her dream came true after a gap of 31 years.

While pursuing her PhD, she chose Steel Industry as her subject and did extensive research and wrote thesis on SAIL and Tata Steel.

Though she aspired for this coveted possession for years, her excitement is no less than a young aspirant getting his doctorate degree. She is very happy and elated to write Dr in front of her name and considers it a matter of pride for herself.

Dr Smita Singh has worked in several districts of Uttar Pradesh, apart from Aligarh.
