CA students unable to appear for exams should be considered opt-out cases, suggests SC
New Delhi: Osmania University in Hyderabad is set to conduct final semester examinations for various undergraduate and post-graduate courses (PG) from September 16, preparations for which have been made in advance. The final year exams will be conducted in offline mode.
About 2.50 lakh final year students of degree and professional courses will appear for these exams at about 300 centres across Telangana.
The exams were about to begin from September but it got deferred by a day after meeting of University officials. It has also allowed promotion of all intermediate students to next semester without any exam and conduct the backlog exams along with the final year exams.
Professor Sriram Venkatesh, Controller of Examination, Osmania University told a leading daily, “We are conducting the examination in a staggered manner. BE students of a few branches will appear for examination from 10 am to 12 pm. and others will appear from 3 pm to 5 pm. Only one student will be allowed to sit on one seat and social distancing will be maintained as per the University Grants Commission, UGC guidelines.”
The University has deployed support staff to ensure that preventive norms against Coronavirus are in place before the students appear for exam. In wake of the Covid-19, examinations will be conducted in one go rather than in staggered manner. University also says that it will give another chance to those students who fail to appear for final semester exams in October.
Osmania University also issued a notification recently, stating that all regular students belonging to intermediate semesters/ years of the academic year 2019-2020 will get promotion to next semester/ year. However, they will have pass the examinations including including the backlogs if any. Only, then they will be considered eligible for next level.
