Biggest flops of 2023: From Adipurush to Selfiee, 8 movies which bombed at Box Office

While many films manage to draw in audiences, some films fail miserably and became the biggest Bollywood flops of 2023.

New Delhi: Bollywood has produced some of the year’s greatest hits—from Jawaan and Pathaan to Tiger 3 and many more—but several of these films have also performed poorly at the box office and received mediocre reviews. Either a poor tale or its presentation is to blame for their failure. And that becomes the reason these movies lost so much money.

While it’s true that some films manage to draw in audiences, some films fail miserably; this list thus includes many Bollywood flops.

1. The Ladykiller

The Ladykiller, starring Arjun Kapoor and Bhumi Pednekar, is the most financially disastrous Bollywood film of the year. On IMDb, it was only able to get a 1.5/10 rating. After its theatrical premiere, the picture received almost little advertising and grossed a pitiful sum.

2. Adipurush

The Hindi version of Adipurush alone had a phenomenal opening weekend, earning over Rs 100 crore. But the Prabhas and Kriti Sanon film couldn’t escape the criticism and slurs that it received. The visual effects and screenplay were heavily criticised, yet the film ultimately flopped at the box office.

3. Selfiee

Among the worst-grossing Bollywood films of 2023, Selfiee stars Akshay Kumar, Emraan Hashmi, and Diana Penty. The film’s rating on IMDb was a meagre 5.7 out of 10. Even at the box office, the film failed, earning just around 23 crore rupees.

4. Shehzada

Among the top 5 lowest-rated Bollywood films of 2023, Shehzada stars Kriti Sanon and Kartik Aryan. On IMDb, the film only gets 4.5 out of 10 stars. Many challenges were encountered by the film. Worldwide, the film’s earnings were just 47 crore rupees.

5. Kuttey

Kuttey was the first feature film directed by Aasmaan Bhardwaj, son of Vishal Bhardwaj. It starred Arjun Kapoor, Tabu, Konkona Sen Sharma, Radhika Madan, Naseeruddin Shah, and Kumud Mishra, among others. Subsequent earnings of around Rs 5 crore were pitiful, compounding the opening’s misery.

6. Ganapath: A Hero is Born

Despite having a budget of 200 crore, the film bombed at the box office, earning just around 13 crore rupees.

7. Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi ka Jaan

The 2014 Tamil film Veeram served as an inspiration for the Salman Khan–starring adaptation. The picture flopped at the box office and has a dismal IMDb rating of 4.4/10.

8. Bhola

Many critics had unfavourable things to say about Bholaa. The picture got off to a strong start, but it lost its momentum at various points. A terrible 4.1/10 star was enough to declare the film a failure.
