Adire OTT Release Date: Kehinde Bankole’s Nigerian satirical comedy is streaming on this digital platform

The Funlola Aofiyebi starrer is now all set to stream on Netflix from 12 January

New Delhi: Kehinde Bankole’s satirical flick, which highlights the prominent social issues in Nigeria is all set to become available to the global audience on the leading OTT platform Netflix.

The female-centric movie is a captivating tale full of dark humor & emotions that will surely make you feel for the characters and think about the mindset of society.

The makers of Adire have cracked a solid deal with Netflix by selling the film’s right to the digital platform for a handsome amount of money.

Adire is now all set to stream on Netflix from 12 January and people looking for some quality content from the Nigerian film industry will be able to enjoy this movie from the comfort of their homes. However, one must note that to watch the movie on Netflix, one will need to have a basic subscription to their service.

Adire story

The story of the film revolves around the life of a prostitute Adire (sex worker) who decides to give up on her old profession and leave her past behind to start a new life.

To walk away from her past, she settles in another town that is far away from her old residence and launches a business of lingerie there. However, her life takes a shocking turn when the wife of a religious preacher (Folashade) gets upset at her and tells the people of the town to chase her away from the city at any cost.

This makes several women of the town try harder to scare off Adre from the town as they tell her that an evil spirit possesses the house she lives in and that the church must do some cleansing there to ward off the evil entity. However, Adire refuses to take their words seriously and makes fun of the town’s Obsolete stereotypes and prejudices. What happens next is the remaining story of the film.

Adire Cast & Production

Helmed by acclaimed director Adeoluwa Owu and written by Jack’enneth Opukeme, Adire features Kehinde Bankole as the movie’s female lead. Besides her, the film also stars Femi Branch, Funlola Aofiyebi-Raimi, Yvonne Jegede, Ifeanyi Kalu, Idowu Philips, Yemi Blaq, Lizzy Jay, Ibrahim Chatta, Kelechi Udegbe and Tomi Ojo in pivotal roles. It was released on the big screen under the banner of FilmOne Entertainment on 3 November 2023.
