Assistant director and actor Saran Raj passes away in car accident, remains sent for post-mortem

Vetri Maaran is a well-known filmmaker in the country. Saran Raj was one of his associate directors on the critically acclaimed film Vada Chennai. He also appeared in Vada Chennai and Asuran as a supporting actor.

New Delhi: Saran Raj, the assistant director and supporting actor for director Vetri Maaran, died on June 8 in a car accident. The collision happened at about 11.30 p.m. in KK Nagar. Palaniappan, a supporting actor, crashed his automobile into Saran Raj’s bike. The latter was severely injured and died on the scene. According to reports, Palaniappan was under the effect of alcohol when he drove the car.

Saran Raj lived on Maduravoyal’s Dhanalakshmi Street. At 11.30 p.m., he was driving down Arcot Road in KK Nagar when the accident occurred. He died instantly. The police were notified by residents in the vicinity. Saran Raj’s mortal remains were sent for a post-mortem examination. They have also filed a complaint, and an inquiry is currently underway.

The accident was caused by Palaniappan from Saligramam, according to the investigation. He also works as a supporting actor. Palaniappan was intoxicated when he was driving the automobile. He was reportedly apprehended by cops.

The death of Saran Raj has sent shockwaves throughout the film industry.

Saran Raj works as the assistant to Vetrimaran, a well-known South Indian filmmaker. Polladhavan, Aadukulam, Vada Chennai, Asuran, and Viduthalai are among the movies directed by the national award-winning director.

Vetrimaaran is now working on two projects: ‘Viduthalai: Part 2’ and ‘Vaadivaasal’. Suriya’s film ‘Vaadivaasal’ is centred on a novel written by CS Chellapa. The plot revolves around a bull and its captor. The highly anticipated film is supposed to shed light on the significance of Jallikattu in Tamil culture.
