New Delhi: June 6 will see the release of Fatima AlBanawi’s newest drama, which will breathe new life into the streaming behemoth Netflix. Looking forward to a moving and relatable viewing that takes viewers on a journey of self-discovery and healing.

A Saudi Arabian multi-talented named Fatima AlBanawi has made her debut in the feature film industry with her film Basma, which addresses the issue of mental illness in her nation.

Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea Film Festival is now taking place in Jeddah, which is located on the eastern bank of the Red Sea.

Plot

A father with paranoid delusions has a daughter named Basma, who is 26 years old in this narrative. Upon her return to Saudi Arabia, Basma makes another attempt to cure her father of his spiralling mental instability. Unfortunately, she is once again forced to abandon him.

When young Basma returns to her hometown of Jeddah after college in the US, she finds that everything has changed from when she left. This sets her life on a completely different trajectory. She must now confront the crumbling family unit brought on by her father’s deteriorating mental health as she realizes her family has been protecting her from the harsh realities of her home life. Now that she has found herself, she must aid her family in their healing journey and restore the joy that was once commonplace in her family.

Cast and Crew

Fatima AlBanawi plays the main character of Basma in this film that she also wrote and directed. Along with Mohammed Fawzi, Terad Sindi, Mai Hakeem, Yasir AlSasi, and Eissa Hafiz, the film features many additional actors.

Mohamed Hefzy, a well-known Egyptian producer, and Fatima Al-Banawi are producing the film Basma under their separate banners of Alf Wad and Film Clinic, with backing from the Red Sea Film Festival Foundation.
