New Delhi: The French biopic Becoming Karl Lagerfeld, which delves into the formative years of legendary fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, is ready to debut on the over-the-top streaming site. See how Karl Lagerfeld became a fashion icon in this behind-the-scenes look.
Before his untimely death in 2019, the Parisian couturier was an iconic figure in the fashion industry, serving as creative director of House of Chanel and providing fans with exclusive access to his life via this series. At the Cannes Film Festival, the series that was adapted from Kaiser Karl by Raphaëlle Bacqué was highly praised.
Beginning on June 7, the launch of the biographical drama will take place on Disney Plus Hotstar.
Plot
The biographical series follows Karl on his path to fame as a Lagerfeld in the 1970s. The series Becoming Karl Lagerfeld follows the fashion designer on a tour of Italy, France, and Monaco while focusing on his friendship with Jacques de Bascher. The series follows Lagerfeld as he lives a high life and documents his professional accomplishments.
Along with his struggle with fashion superstar Yves Saint Laurent, it details Lagerfeld’s encounters with his long-term love partner, the ambitious, difficult, thrilling, and dapper Jacques des Bascher. Whereas Laurent enjoyed the support of industrialist Pierre Bergé throughout his time at the House of Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld had to go through several obstacles before achieving fame and fortune.
With his customary calm yet captivating demeanour, Lagerfeld sets out on a quest to become the fashion emperor, throwing extravagant parties and dazzling fashion displays while being prepared for a long battle.

The premiere of Becoming Karl Lagerfeld took place in April at the Cannes TV Festival, and it will now be accessible for streaming on OTT on June 7, 2024. In the United States, Hulu will have all six episodes available, while in other countries, Disney Plus Hotstar will have them.
