New Delhi: The much-awaited comedy-horror flick ‘Bhediya’ has finally made its way to the digital realm, gracing the OTT platform JioCinema on May 26th. Directed by Amar Kaushik and produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films and Jio Studios, the movie initially hit theatres on November 25, 2022, receiving rave reviews from both audiences and critics alike.
Following a brief delay, ‘Bhediya’ was originally scheduled for release on JioCinema on April 21, but for reasons unknown, the digital premiere was postponed to May 26th. The film, which garnered an impressive box office collection of INR 43.67 crores during its theatrical run in the first week, boasts a total budget of INR 60 crores.
‘Bhediya’ boasts a star-studded cast led by Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon, along with Abhishek Banerjee and Deepak Dobriyal.
PLOT
The plot revolves around Bhaskar and his cousin Jana, who venture into a small town in Arunachal Pradesh as part of a development project. After being bitten by a wolf, Bhaskar begins experiencing peculiar changes, such as communicating with animals and developing heightened senses.
Local inhabitants and tribals oppose the idea of deforestation for road construction, but Bhaskar manages to rally the support of the youth. However, when two project members are found dead, suspicions arise about a shape-shifting werewolf behind the killings. Jana suspects Bhaskar to be the werewolf and conducts a stool test, confirming his involvement in the gruesome incidents.
Determined to find a cure for Bhaskar’s condition, they discover that the only way is for him to be bitten again by the same wolf. Dr. Anika, who also possesses shape-shifting abilities, reveals herself to be the wolf that had bitten Bhaskar. She implores him not to succumb to deforestation and its consequences. Bhaskar then resolves to construct the roads around the forest borders, leaving the trees unharmed.
