Bollywood celebs hail Priya Malik for ‘Olympic gold’, which she didn’t; get heavily trolled

Indian athlete Priya Malik grabbed a gold medal in the World Cadet Wrestling Championship in Budapest. But, a couple of Bollywood celebrities greeted her for Olympic win. Following this, they were trolled heavily.

New Delhi: Indian athlete Priya Malik grabbed a gold medal in the World Cadet Wrestling Championship in Budapest on Sunday. While the countrymen showered praise on the athlete, some Bollywood celebrities mistook the wrestler’s victory as an Olympic win.

‘Dum Laga ke Haisha’ fame actress Bhumi Padnekar took to Instagram to congratulate Malik with  caption, “Baby gold gold gold gold gold #PriyaMalik #tokyoolympics #olympics2021”.

Actor/Model Milind Soman took to his twitter handle and excitedly wrote, “Thank you Priya Malik! #gold #TokoyoOlympics #wrestling welcome to Mt Olympus”.

However, Soman after releasing the mistake corrected himself sharing an another post which said, “Sorry, should have checked before my earlier tweet, but was too overcome with joy Smiling face with open mouth and smiling eyes Priya Malik won Gold at the World wrestling Championships ! Onwards and upwards”.

One user suggested, “Kindly google little and find out in which world sporting event she won… It’s not mandatory to post congratulatory tweet without knowing about it”. Another commented, “Sir pls delete this. She won at World Championship at Hungry. Even I got excited initially”.

Replying to this, Soman wrote: “I know now, still happy and I won’t delete the tweet, sometimes its ok to make a mistake.”
