Plot
Dark, disturbing, and laced with creeping dread, this psychological horror tale centers on Laura, a once devoted childcare worker who is shattered after the sudden and tragic death of her only daughter. Haunted by grief and unable to let go of the past, Laura’s sorrow transforms into obsession. Hoping to fill the unbearable void, she opens her secluded countryside home to foster children, becoming a temporary guardian for a small group of orphans. Among them are Andy and Piper, teenage twins still reeling from the loss of their own parents, and a younger, withdrawn girl who rarely speaks and hides behind a glassy, distant stare.
At first, Laura appears gentle and caring, her home quaint and peaceful—if a little too quiet. But the children quickly notice that something about the house feels… wrong. Doors creak open on their own. Whispers echo from darkened corners. And Laura’s behavior shifts from nurturing to unnervingly erratic, especially after dusk.
As the twins settle into their new surroundings, they begin to sense a darkness lurking beneath Laura’s sorrow. Late one night, they stumble upon a hidden room and witness something they were never meant to see—a disturbing and grotesque ritual in progress, with Laura chanting incantations over a decaying shrine. At its center: remnants of her dead daughter’s belongings.
Horrified, Andy and Piper realize the horrifying truth—Laura hasn’t just been grieving. She’s been waiting, preparing, and practicing for a resurrection. The silent orphan girl isn’t just quiet; she’s part of the ceremony, a placeholder, a vessel. And now, with her ritual failing to yield results, Laura believes she needs a stronger sacrifice.
