December 2021: Mark your calendars for the upcoming South films to hit the theatres soon

Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna-starrer crime thriller ‘Pushpa: The Rise’ is based on red sandalwood smuggling in the Seshachalam hills of Andhra Pradesh.

New Delhi: The surge in the theatrical releases has begun as majority of single screen theatres and multiplexes have reopened in various states, following certain Covid-related guidelines.

While OTTs had become the key source of entertainment for most of us during the first and the second wave of coronavirus pandemic, reviving the theatrical moments again after an overlong interval is surely a treat amidst the chilly weather.

Though Hindi films such as Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif starrer Sooryavanshi as well as the intense romance-drama Tadap featuring Ahaan Shetty and Tara Sutaria received overwhelming response on the big screens, the southern language films are no behind.

The last month of the year is packed with multi-starrer films to hit the cinema halls throughout the Christmas and winter vibes.

Check out the list of new arrivals in Dec 2021: 

1. Shyam Singha Roy

Much awaited period-drama Shyam Singha Roy, featuring natural star Nani, Sai Pallavi in the lead roles is slated for a theatrical release on the special occasion of Christmas Eve, December 24. Madonna Sebastian, Krithi Shetty, Murali Sharma, Rahul Ravindran and Abhinav Gomatam will also be seen in pivotal roles in the film helmed by Rahul Sankrityan.

2. Ghani 

Helmed by Kiran Korrapati, the Telugu language sports drama features Varun Tej in the lead role. Varun will be portraying the role of a boxer for which he have trained under former English professional boxer Tony Jeffries. The film which features Saiee Manjrekar, Suniel Shetty and Upendra in pivotal roles will be locking halls with Shyam Singha Roy on the big screens.

3. Pushpa: The Rise

Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna-starrer crime thriller ‘Pushpa: The Rise’ is based on red sandalwood smuggling in the Seshachalam hills of Andhra Pradesh. The Telugu movie is all set for a grand theatrical release along on December 17, along with dubbed version in five different languages including Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.

4. Good Luck Sakhi 

Telugu film featuring Keerthy Suresh and actor Aadhi in the lead roles revolves around a girl, believed to bring bad luck to everyone. The film which was earlier supposed to be screened on Dec 10, has now been pushed to be released on New Year’s eve.

5. Lakshya 

Sports drama Lakshya, which marks the 20th film of actor Naga Shaurya is all set to premiered in theatres on December 10. Santhossh Jagarlapudi directorial also features Ketika Sharma, Jagapathi Babu, Sachin Khedekar, Satya, and Ravi Prakash in crucial roles.
