“Don’t want cheap popularity”: Pankaj Tripathi unhappy for his name being used in Azamgarh’s promotion, might take legal action

Pankaj, who did a cameo in the movie, isn’t happy that the makers, in their promotional efforts are trying to give the impression that he played a major role in the film.

New Delhi: Actor Pankaj Tripathi might take legal action against the makers of Azamgarh, a movie in which he features in a cameo role.

Azamgarh is a feature-length film made by National award-winning director Kamlesh Mishra. The movie is based on some real cases of terrorism. In the movie, Pankaj Tripathi plays the small role of a preacher who brainwashed youth into becoming terrorists. Tripathi’s role is a mere cameo for which he didn’t charge any fee.

But now, when Pankaj Tripathi came across the promotional posters of Azamgarh, he wasn’t happy about it.

As per the reports, Pankaj Kumar is considering legal action against the makers of Azamgarh for unfairly using his name to promote their film.

Pankaj, who did a cameo in the movie, isn’t happy that the makers, in their promotional efforts are trying to give the impression that he played a major role in the film.

From the posters as well as the trailer, it is evident that makers are indeed trying to overstate Pankaj Tripathi’s part in the movie.

Tripathi also claims that he wasn’t aware that the movie would be released shortly and got aware when he came across the posters for its OTT release. Pankaj said he doesn’t want the makers to use his name for the promotion of Azamgarh as he doesn’t want any “cheap publicity.”

Amazgarh’s shooting was completed  5 years ago but for some unknown reason, it wasn’t released at that time. As of now, the trailer of the movie doesn’t disclose the exact release date. Reports say that since  Pankaj is working on the huge project of OMG 2 currently, he doesn’t want to be linked with a movie like Azamgarh.
