Ekta Kapoor creates history, becomes the first Indian Filmmaker to receive International Emmy Award

The organization has decided to honor Ekta Kapoor with Emmy for her trailblazing career and impact on the Indian Television landscape.

New Delhi: Filmmaker and producer Ekta Kapoor makes history by becoming the first Indian to be honored with the Directorate Award at the upcoming Emmy International Awards which will held in New York on November 20. The organization has decided to honor Ekta Kapoor with Emmy for her trailblazing career and impact on the Indian Television landscape. She is the co-founder of the television production powerhouse “Balaji Telefilms.”

Ekta Kapoor has built Balaji as one of India’s foremost entertainment players with market leadership in the television content industry that reaches across the audiences of India and South Asia with their longest-running shows and OTT Platform. Ekta Kapoor, daughter of legendary actor Jeetendra and Shobha Kapoor launched Balaji Telefilms which has given the television Industry shows like, “Kyuki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi”, “Kasautii Zindagii Kay”,” Kahani Ghar Ghar Kii”, “Kaahin Kissii Roz” and “Bade Acche Lagte Hain”.

Apart from television shows she has also produced multiple movies including, Shootout at Lokhandwala, Once Upon a Time in Mumbai, Dirty Picture, Lootera , Udta Punjab, Dream Girl and Dream Girl 2. On  being hounred , Ekta said this recognizition has filled her with profound humility and excitement. The Award holds a special place in my heart as marks the journey that goes beyond mere work , its a key aspect of her personal and professional life. Its an incredible honour to represent the country at global level through this esteemed platform, she added.

Television has been instrumental in helping  to discover her identity ,,particularly as a women making shows for women. Before Ekta, Subhash Chandra , founder of Zee TV and Essel Group was presented with this award.
