Gadar 2 on way to ‘beat’ Pathaan in India earnings, this small gap is left

New Delhi: Gadar 2 scripted history by becoming the second Hindi film to enter the Rs 500 crore club after Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathan which is the highest-earning Hindi film of this year. The sequel to Sunny Deol’s 2001 mega-blockbuster Gadar: Ek Prem Katha netted Rs 8 crore on day 24 i.e. Sunday, taking it to a total of Rs 501 crore, as per the report of industry tracker Sacnill.com.

With this, Gadar 2  has become the second highest-earner Hindi film of the year and third third-ever film to hit the hallowed club in a single language in India after Pathaan and Prabha’s Bahubali 2: The conclusion. The Anil Sharma directorial is also the fastest film among the three to reach the mark of Rs 500 crore.

The film was released on August 11 in a face-off with Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2. In India, Gadar 2 collected Rs 501 crore and in a global collection, it stands at Rs 650 crore.

According to the industry tracker Sacnilk, Gadar 2 has now become the 10th highest-grossing Indian movie of all time, beating Bahubali- The Begining which scored  650 crores world wide in 2015. Now the film is in the run to chase the record of highest grossing Hindi film Pathaan which grossed 524 crore (Hindi) in Domestic club and more than 1000 crore at globe box office.
