Go! Go! Loser Ranger! Season 2 OTT Release: The urban fantasy anime series “Go! Go! Loser Ranger!” is set to return with its second season on April 13, 2025.

Episodes will air every Sunday at 11:30 p.m. JST on the Agaru Anime programming block across 28 CBC/TBS affiliated networks in Japan. Internationally, Disney+ will continue to stream the series, maintaining its exclusive distribution from the first season.

Thirteen years ago, the Villainous Army attempted to invade Earth, but the Dragon Keepers, a team of color-coded superheroes, thwarted their attack. After their defeat, the Dragon Keepers force the remaining foot soldiers to participate in staged battles every Sunday. This perpetuates the illusion of an ongoing conflict.

Dissatisfied with this charade, a foot soldier named D decides to infiltrate the Dragon Keepers to dismantle their organization from within. This premise subverts typical hero-villain dynamics. It presents a narrative where the so-called heroes may not be as virtuous as they appear.

Based on Negi Haruba’s manga, serialized since February 2021 in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine, “Go! Go! Loser Ranger!” offers a darker twist on the traditional hero narrative. The story follows Fighter D, a foot soldier from the Villainous Army of Evil, who rebels against the oppressive Dragon Rangers by infiltrating their ranks.

The second season will adapt the “Dreamy School Life Arc,” starting from chapter 52 of the manga. In this arc, Fighter D, disguised as Hibiki Sakurama, infiltrates the Green Keeper unit to investigate the mysterious disappearance of high school students.

The creators have released a new key visual, featuring Kanon Hisui of the Green Battalion, Fighter D as Hibiki Sakurama, new recruit Angel Usukubo, Chitose, and a mysterious eye drawn on a blackboard, hinting at the intrigue of the upcoming storyline.

The series has been lauded for its unique premise and subversion of classic superhero tropes. Polygon ranked it among the top anime of 2024. Describing it as a “fiendishly subversive, violent, and thrilling saga about fascistic antiheroes and the commodification of spectacle.”

The anime’s ability to balance intense action sequences with dark humor and social commentary has resonated with audiences, making it a standout title in the 2024 anime lineup.
