Good Times OTT Release Date: Good Times will premiere exclusively on Netflix on April 12, 2024.

New Delhi: Good Times, the iconic comedy, is getting an animated makeover from Netflix, giving fans a new spin on the iconic Evans family.

The legendary 1970s comedy Good Times is getting an animated remake, thanks to American rapper 9th Wonder. The animated version’s score was overseen by the Grammy-winning artist. Good Times was co-created by Carl Jones and Ranada Shepard.

Fans from the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s really miss the humorous throwback comedy and memorable characters. The goal of this animated version is to recall the source content while adding a modern spin.

Plot

The fourth-generation Evans family resides in apartment 17C in one of the few remaining Chicago housing complexes, and their lives are the centre of the animated series Good Times. Their family consists of a cab driver Reggie and his wife Beverly, their teenage son Junior, an artist, their activist daughter Grey, and their baby son Dalvin, involved in drug trafficking.

Through examining the struggles of succeeding in a system that often seems to be working against them, the series emphasizes the lasting impact of love and perseverance.

The Evans family, shown in Good Times, is poor and fighting an uphill battle to provide for their three children. Another American comedy, Good Times, was a spin-off of Maude (1972–1978), which was a spin-off of All in the Family (1971–1979).

When and Where to Watch?

Good Times will premiere exclusively on Netflix on April 12, 2024. Since the original comedy was among the most popular American television series, netizens began to get excited as soon as the streaming giant announced it.

Cast and Crew

A stellar voice cast is included in the series, including J.B. Smoove (Reggie), Yvette Nicole Brown (Beverly), Jay Pharoah (Junior), Marsai Martin (Grey), Gerald Slink Johnson (Dalvin), and Rashida Olayiwola (Lashes).

The animated revival of Good Times is being produced and operated by Ranada Shepard. Good Times is executive-produced by Stephen Curry, Lear, and Seth MacFarlane. Sony Pictures Television Studios collaborated on the animated remake’s production.

It follows the Evans family over four generations and serves as a spiritual successor to the live-action film. As the first Black two-parent family comedy to air in the 1970s, Good Times was a groundbreaking show.
