Iran’s under-19 coach Asghar Ali Raeisi seeks BCCI aid for building cricketing infrastructure in the country, Calls MS Dhoni his inspiration

“We need the help of BCCI in training our players and umpires so that cricket can grow and flourish in Iran as well,” Raeisi told ANI.

New Delhi: The Coach of Iran’s National cricket team Asghar Ali Raeisi has urged BCCI to assist them in building cricketing infrastructure in Iran’s Chabahar.

Speaking to ANI, Ashgar Ali told how his country’s youth have the talent and potential to become one of the leading cricketing power but the lack of proper infrastructure and funding act as a bar in their growth.

“We need the help of BCCI in training our players and umpires so that cricket can grow and flourish in Iran as well,” Raeisi told ANI.

He further told how a large number of cricketing fans from India, Pakistan and Afghanistan reside in Chabahar and therefore, bringing international cricket to the city will be a great boon for Iran cricket. “Cricket will only grow here when major cricketing teams from all over the world will come and play here” Asghar added.

Speaking about Indian Premier League, Raeisi said that the league has helped India in finding new talent and he would love to see Irani players participating in IPL as well.

After praising young talent Rituraj Gaikawad, Asghar also revealed about being a fan of legendary Cricketers MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli saying, “Me and my students have learned a lot by just watching them play. They are an inspiration.”

He further showed his disappointment with the West Indian cricket team over their recent elimination from the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup of 2023.

Iran, an oil-based economy from the Middle East faces heavy sections from the US and other Western allies. Due to the sections and lack of government funds, the country has been unable to develop a proper cricketing infrastructure despite being a decent economy.
