‘It is his life and his decision’: Lalit Modi’s son Ruchir and his family knew that Lalit and Sushmita Sen are dating

The 28-year-old son of Lalit along with his daughter, Aliya (29) was aware of their father’s relationship with Sushmita Sen.

New Delhi: Ever since the controversial businessman, Lalit Modi disclosed his relationship with former Miss Universe, Sushmita Sen, the Internet is going gaga over it. On Thursday, Lalit Modi took to Twitter to announce that he has been dating Sushmita Sen calling her his “better half” and describing it as a “new beginning.”

However, his family seemed to be quite calm and relaxed about the new development with Lalit Modi. In an exclusive interview with ETimes, Lalit’s son Ruchir Modi stated, “I prefer to refrain from commenting on personal family affairs but would always be happy to comment in relation to business or other matters.”

The 28-year-old son of Lalit along with his daughter, Aliya (29) was aware of their father’s relationship with Sushmita Sen. However, the family of the former IPL chairman did not wish to discuss the personal issue in the public forum. “I prefer not to comment at all, to be very honest, as we don’t comment on personal matters as a family policy,” said Ruchir who stays with his father in London while Aliya is married.

Here are the posts that sparked frenzy all around the Internet:

As soon as the announcement was made, Ruchir did not respond to calls as well as messages. Being less impulsive and more calculative than his father, Ruchir gave a reluctant opinion about his father, “It is his life and his decision.”

Minal Modi died of cancer in December 2018 and since then Lalit Modi had posted several moving tributes to his late wife, who was 11 years older than him. Modi’s were a close-knit family and Ruchir still has his mother’s picture as his WhatsApp DP. “I miss her every day,” he said.

Ruchir has a management degree from London. Before, he studied at the American School in Mumbai, after which he moved to London along with his parents in 2010. The father-son duo and Lalit’s brother (Samir Modi) are involved in a family dispute with his grandmother. Besides, the case has gone to the Supreme Court after an unsuccessful arbitration attempt.

“The family dispute is unfortunate and I hope and have full faith in the Supreme Court of India for a quick decision in this matter, given the unfortunate state of the way the businesses are being run and controlled,” said Ruchir who indulges in several ventures in the UK and Europe. He also used to visit Mumbai frequently but stopped since the pandemic.
