Jailer BO: Rajinikanth-starrer becomes 2nd Tamil film in history to earn ₹550 crores worldwide

The box office success of ‘Jailer’ in India has surpassed that of Mani Ratnam’s ‘Ponniyin Selvan 1,’ making it the highest-grossing Tamil film of all time in the country.

New Delhi: Action flick Jailer, starring Rajinikanth, has become a global hit in a short amount of time, earning more than Rs. 550 crores in only 12 days since its release on August 10. This makes Jailer the second-fastest Tamil film to earn over 550 crores globally, according to trade expert Manobala Vijayabalan.

The first week of Jailer brought in 450.80 crores, while the first day of the second week brought in 19.37 crores and the second day brought in 17.22 crores. Day 10 collected 26.86 crores, Day 11 collected 29.71 crores, and Day 12 collected 12.54 crores, for a total of Rs. 556.50 crores.

‘Jailer’ has followed in the footsteps of ‘2.0’ (2018) by entering the 550-crore club, as revealed by Manobala Vijayabalan on Twitter. In fact, it only took 12 days, making it the second-fastest movie ever after ‘2.0,’ which took 8 days.

According to early estimates provided by Sacnilk, the film made 7 crores nett in India at the domestic box office on its second Monday. According to Sacnilk, the film has made around 291.80 Cr crores nett in India thus far.
