Jawan BO: The global box office for SRK-starrer is ready to cross Rs 1000 crores

According to Red Chillies Entertainment, Shah Rukh Khan is about to make history at the global box office by being the first Indian star to have two films in the Rs 1,000 crore club.

New Delhi: Jawan, the newest film starring Shah Rukh Khan, has been a critical and commercial success since its premiere. With a total of Rs 546.58 crore after just 17 days in theatres, the action-thriller starring Shah Rukh Khan has earned more money domestically than the superstar’s own film, Pathaan.

In its first two weeks of release, the film grossed a total of Rs 525.98 crore, including Rs 389.88 crore in the first week and Rs 136.10 crore in the second. According to the business website Sacnilk, the film then made another Rs 7.60 crore on its third Friday and roughly Rs 13 crore on its third Saturday, bringing its grand total to Rs 546.58 crore.

The third Saturday of Jawan’s release raked in USD 1.3 million at the box office worldwide, bringing the film’s total international earnings to  USD 40.75 million (Rs. 339 crores). Following in the footsteps of another SRK-starring film, Pathaan, Jawan has become just the second Bollywood film to gross over USD 40 million in the conventional international markets.

The film is rapidly approaching the historic Rs. 1000 crore mark globally, and today might be the day it breaks even more records. According to Red Chillies Entertainment, Shah Rukh Khan is about to make history at the global box office by being the first Indian star to have two films in the Rs 1,000 crore club.

Overseas ticket sales were USD 28.25 million in the first week and USD 10.20 million in the second. Earnings on the third Friday were USD 1.10 million, while those on the third Saturday were USD 1.30 million. This brings the total from international markets to USD 40.75 million.

Shah Rukh Khan, Nayanthara, and Vijay Sethupathi appear in Jawan as the main roles with many others, and is directed by Atlee and produced by Red Chillies Entertainment.
