JISOO performs ‘Flower’ live in Tokyo, debuts at number 1 on YouTube South Korea’s charts (VIDEO)

The debut proved to be a chartbuster and record-breaker for the K-pop industry while facing competition from the likes of Ive and New Jeans.

New Delhi: JISOO of the K-pop band BLACKPINK recently made her solo debut with the song ‘Flower’ and the song debuted at number 1 in the first week of April on YouTube South Korea’s charts with 7.04 million streams. The debut proved to be a chartbuster and record-breaker for the K-pop industry while facing competition from the likes of Ive and New Jeans. She also made her solo debut performance of the song on SBS INKIGAYO in Tokyo, Japan.

JISOO made the biggest debut for YouTube South Korea in 2023 and she also reached the top 5 on all major streaming platforms in South Korea. The song, released on March 31, has gained more than 110 million views on YouTube and is currently at number 6 on the video streaming service.

Her fanbase has been much supportive and has been sharing reactions to the news.

The K-pop singer released her solo album ‘Me’ and ‘Flower’ was the highlight of the album. The song uses ‘flower’ as a metaphor for her condition and the scent of a flower as a metaphor for heartbreak.

The music video, divided into three chapters, shows her getting off a car, in a hotel lobby and also dancing on road and in several changing locations in different shimmery outfits. The video is an example of a well-done montage and describes the song appropriately.

Just before the release, JISOO mentioned that she took care of showing soloist JISOO instead of BLACKPINK’s JISOO in the album.
