Kangana Ranaut completes 14 years in films, reveals why she didn’t pick her first award

The complaint accused the actress and her sister-cum-manager Rangoli of “misusing their stardom, fanbase, fame, money, power and influence with an aim and intent to promote hatred, disbalance, fights in the country for their personal benefits and gains”.

New Delhi: Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut completes 14 years in Bollywood with Tuesday being the 14th anniversary of her debut film, Gangster. The film was directed by Anurag Basu and Kangana even won the Filmfare award for best female debut that year.  She played the role of Shiney Ahuja‘s lover in the film, Gangster.

Kangana said in a press statement, “I had no idea that I was nominated. When the team was leaving for the event, they asked me about my travel plans. I had no idea how to go to Singapore, where to stay, and I was too embarrassed to even ask my crew about ticket prices. So I missed that opportunity. When I won, Bobby Singh, DOP of Gangster and Queen, who is sadly no more, called and said he is getting my trophy. I was thrilled and it’s one of my fondest memories.”

Earlier this week, a  police complaint was filed against Kangana Ranaut for referring to members of a particular community as ‘terrorist’ in a video released in support of her sister Rangoli Chandel. Rangoli’s twitter account got suspended for alleged hate speech.

The complaint has been filed by Advocate Ali Kaashif Khan Deshmukh, a resident of Mumbai. The copy of the complaint, according to a news portal, mentioned that while one sister calls out for genocide killings and violence, the other steps up to support her. It further stated that despite nationwide criticism and Twitter suspension, the sister has labelled a particular sect as terrorists.
