Kangana's much-awaited project Thalaivii's theatrical release got postponed due to the rise in the number of COVID-19 cases in India.

Kangana was set to return on silver screen on April 23 with her much awaited biopic 'Thalaivi', but the release of the film has been postponed amid the ongoing rise in COVID-19 cases across the nation.

The film is set to release worldwide in Hindi, Tamil and Telegu by Zee Studios on April 23, 2021.

Kangana has also signed up to play the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in an upcoming political drama.

The movie stars Kangana as Jayalalithaa, Arvind Swami as politician M G Ramachandran, and Prakash Raj as Karunanidhi.

The nearly three-and-a-half-minute-long trailer opened with a voice-over that said "Jaya", and then graphics are shown that read, "The name you know, the life story you don't".

Kangana has also signed up to play the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in an upcoming political drama.

The film is based on the life of actress turned politician Jayalalitha, who was served as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for fourteen years
