‘Laapata’: Makers release new song from Akshay Kumar’s ‘Cuttputlli’

New Delhi: A new song from the Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Cuttputlli’ was released on September 7 at 4 pm. The song is titled ‘Laapata’ and featured Akshay Kumar and Rakul Preet Singh, the lead cast of the film. The song is composed by the ‘Terri Mitti’ fame Aditya Dev and is sung by Payal Dev and Dev Negi, who also sang the popular song ‘Akadi Pakdi’ from Liger.

Actor Rakul Preet Singh shared a motion poster of the song which shows the title written in a similar style as ‘Cuttputtli’. The poster also featured Akshay and Rakul with all the newspaper cutouts. Sharing the poster, the actor wrote, “Is khel ka kaun hai baadshah? Baazi chale per hai laapata. (Who is the king of this game? Makes the move but is missing.)”

Directed by Ranjit Tewari, the film revolves around a cop’s mission to track down a child abduction racket in the city. It is a remake of the Tamil film ‘Ratsasan’. The film stars Akshay Kumar, Rakul Preet Singh, Sargun Mehta, Gurpreet Ghuggi, Chandrachur Singh, Shahid Latief, and Hritishaa Bhatt along with others.

The lyrics for the song ‘Laapata’ are penned by the duo Rashmi Virag, who is popular for their work in ‘Raaz Reboot’ and ‘Liger’. Meanwhile, another song from the film, ‘Rabba’ was released on August 30 and is sung by Sukhwinder Singh. The song is composed by Dr Zeus and Omar Malik, who is also the lyricist.

‘Cuttputlli’ is streaming Disney+Hotstar and has received a mixed response from the viewers. While some found it to be an edge-of-the-seat thriller, some people found it predictable and not up to the mark.
