Nawazuddin Siddiqui criticises big-budget films for damaging Bollywood

In a recent interview, the actor took a jibe at the big-budget films and pointed out why they are not working currently.

New Delhi: Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who is known for his acting skills and unique characters portrayed on the big screen, criticised big-budget films for damaging the image of Bollywood. He called ‘big films’ out for lacking in delivering good acting and direction. In a recent interview, the actor took a jibe at the big-budget films and pointed out why they are not working currently.

Nawazuddin said that these films are bringing the film industry down with a lack of good direction, storytelling and performance. He pointed out that most of these big films are flopping at the box office and added that these films have five songs choreographed by a choreographer and action sequences choreographed by a stunt director, so the director and the actors do not have much work to do.

Nawaz also said that people take 10-15 actors and make a Rs 60-100 crore budget film rather than opting for a good actor with a budget of about Rs 50 crore for the movie. He believes that the public’s actor is not reaching the audience.

The actor has two releases lined up in ‘Afwaah’ and ‘Jogira Sara Ra Ra’. Directed by Sudhir Mishra, ‘Afwaah’ revolves around an advertising professional and a political heiress in the backdrop of social media rumour. The film also stars Bhumi Pednekar, Sumeet Vyas and Sharib Hashmi. ‘Afwaah’ will release in cinemas on May 5.

On the other hand, ‘Jogira Sara Ra Ra’ is a rom-com following a matchmaker and a woman forcing him to marry her. Nawaz stars opposite Neha Sharma and the film also features Zarina Wahab and Sanjay Mishra. The film will hit the cinemas on May 12.
