Netflix ‘Most Watched’ List 2023: 5 top ‘most watched’ Indian contents as per Netflix 2023 data

Considering the recent strikes by SAG-AFTRA and the WGA, which centred on revenue sharing in an era of hidden statistics, Netflix has now revealed information for over 18,000 titles on the platform, including films and series.

Netflix released its ‘most watched’ data of the half of 2023 on Tuesday. The streamer was hesitant to disclose data to investors and the public at first because it didn’t want to give away any trade secrets to its competitors. Considering the recent strikes by SAG-AFTRA and the WGA, which centred on revenue sharing in an era of hidden statistics, Netflix has now revealed information for over 18,000 titles on the platform, including films and series.

According to Netflix’s available data, these are the top 5 most-watched Indian titles.

Rana Naidu

At 336th in Netflix’s overall rankings, Rana Naidu became the ‘most watched’ Indian series. One of the official remakes of Ray Donovan, an American TV series, is Rana Naidu. Rana Naidu is the master problem solver in the complex world of celebrities. After his father’s release from jail, Rana faces unresolved issues within his own family and struggles to overcome personal secrets.

Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga

With an overall ranking of 401 on Netflix, Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga became the second ‘most watched’ Indian film. To free themselves from a loan shark, the film follows a flight attendant and her business partner as they go on a daring mission to steal diamonds. The theft goes tragically wrong and becomes a hostage scenario at 40,000 feet in the air.

Mission Majnu

With a 599 ranking, Mission Majnu surpassed all other Indian films to become the third ‘most viewed’ on Netflix. Set in Pakistan in the 1970s, Mission Majnu follows an undercover Indian agent as he embarks on a perilous quest to uncover a clandestine nuclear weapons development. The plot twist occurs when Amandeep develops feelings for blind Nasreen.

Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway

With an overall ranking of 651 on Netflix, Mrs Chatterjee vs. Norway became the fourth ‘most watched’ Indian film. The film is based on the true tale of an Indian couple residing in Norway who had their children removed from their home by the Norwegian Child Welfare Services due to their objections against traditional Indian parenting practices. Mrs Chatterjee fights for custody of her children again.

Class hit 724th place on Netflix, making it the fifth ‘most watched’ Indian series. Class chronicles the turbulent events that ensue because of the intense dynamics at this luxury school. The series delves into several societal problems that contemporary youngsters face, such as casteism, corruption, homophobia, and economic disparity in India.
