Thalapathy made his debut as a childa actor in the film ‘Vetri’. He played as a child artist in many films directed by his father. The South Star got the opportunity to work as a lead actor in 1992 in the film ‘Naaliya Theerpu’. After this he continued playing lead roles in films receiving mixed reaction from the audience.

Thalaiva has acted in many films but he received success and got fame from his work in the Tamil film industry. His father was a Film Director and mother was a playback singer and vocalist. His mother is of a Hindu religion and father was a christian. Vijay had a younger sister who passed away when she was 2 years old.
