Oscars 2023 Predictions: From ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’ to Colin Farrell, Michelle Yeoh’s performances, check who will win at 95th Academy Awards

Films and stars have been bagging several awards and screenings at prestigious film festivals across the globe, but it is now the time for, arguably, the biggest award in the field of cinema.

New Delhi: The Oscars 2023 is around the corner and with a lot said and discussed, the announcement is not far away. There have been many impressive films and performances last year and there is a lot of on-screen and off-screen work to be lauded. Films and stars have been bagging several awards and screenings at prestigious film festivals across the globe, but it is now the time for, arguably, the biggest award in the field of cinema.

Here are our predictions for Oscars 2023:

Best Picture

While ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ and ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ entertained the audience and ‘Tar’ made its mark, it seems to be a competition between ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’, ‘The Banshees of Inisherin’ and ‘The Fabelmans’ for the Best Picture award.

EEAAO ripped apart the genre of the multiverse to tell a story of a relationship between mother and daughter, ‘The Banshees of Inisherin’ presented a classic Martin McDonough dark comedy and ‘The Fabelmans’ is a great semi-autobiographical film by Steven Spielberg.

Who will win: Everything Everywhere All At Once

Best Actor

Colin Farrell in ‘The Banshees of Inisherin’ is a masterclass on how to act by getting your basics right and hitting the notes perfectly to bring the comedy on paper to screen. On the other hand, the audiences loved Paul Mescal’s heartwrenching portrayal of a father in ‘Aftersun’ and a masterpiece of a performance by Brendan Fraser in ‘The Whale’.

Who will win: While everyone’s rooting for Paul Mescal, Colin Farrell‘s craft might get him an Oscar.

Best Actress

It is a competition between two-time Oscar winner Cate Blanchett for ‘Tar’ and Michelle Yeoh for ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’. Blanchett got a well-written character and as always she was amazing in her portrayal. Meanwhile, Yeoh has been the audience’s and jury’s favourite at several award events for a complete package of performance.

Who will win: Michelle Yeoh

Best Supporting Actress

While Stephanie Hsu’s Jobu Topaki in EEAAO was a groundbreaking acting performance, the fans seem to be rooting for Angela Bassett for ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’. Bassett was clinical in portraying the grief in the film and the scene where she banishes Okoye from her job might to brought tears to many eyes.

Who will win: Stephanie Hsu seems to be impressive but Angela Bassett just nailed it.

Best Supporting Actor

Barry Keoghan and Brendan Gleeson in ‘The Banshees of Inisherin’ were great but Ke Huy Quan in EEAAO, arguably, deserves the Oscars this time. Him playing the ‘Alpha Waymond’ was the highlight of the film and was a nuanced performance.

Who will win: Ke Huy Quan

On the other hand, India has three nominations in ‘Naatu Naatu’ in Best Original Song and ‘All That Breathes’ and ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ in the documentary categories to root for.
