New Delhi: Designer and stylist Shaleena Nathani styled Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone for the song ‘Besharam Rang’ in ‘Pathaan’. She opened up about the experience of styling the actors for the video of the song and talked about the brief given to her by the director Siddharth Anand. In the song, Shah Rukh can be seen in loose shirts while Deepika flaunts a variety of bikinis on the beach.
Shaleena Nathani said that Siddharth told her the mood of the song in the context of the film. She said that Deepika was made to look carefree and both of them seem to have never seen before looks. She added that SRK is supposed to look like he is not a part of the film while Deepika is supposed to carry her ‘sexiest’ look. She told that the director gave her a lot of freedom and trusted her which is why she was able to give her best to the film.
Shaleena has worked with Deepika before and also styled her for Cannes 2022. The stylist complimented the actors on the way they carried the style. Shaleena said that there could not have been two better actors to style. She added that her team did not approach the song like any other dance number and chose ‘elevated casual fashion’ for the actors.
Meanwhile, some members of certain Hindu outfits including RSS and BJP are criticising the song for the bold scenes and the ‘bhagwa’ bikini worn by Deepika. This also led to a ‘Boycott Pathaan’ trend on Twitter.
The song ‘Besharam Rang’ has been sung by Shilpa Rao and Caralisa Monteiro, while it is composed by Vishal and Sheykhar and the lyrics are written by Kumaar. Alongside SRK and Deepika, ‘Pathaan’ also stars John Abraham and Ashutosh Rana. The film will release on January 25.
