The playback singer started his career in 1940 with the song. With his melodic voice and heart-wrenching songs, he emerged as one of the singing sensations of his time. He also won a National film award for the best male playback singer in 1973 for the song Kai Baar Yuhi Dekha from the movie Rajinigandha.

Mukesh has given several hits in collaboration with legends like Naushad, ShankarJaikishan and more and is still remembered as one of the most celebrated Indian playback vocalist.
