New Delhi: P Subramaniam, the father of Tamil actor Ajit Kumar, died this morning (March 24). According to reports, he was suffering from paralysis and an age-related ailment. The actor’s father’s body remains will be cremated today at 10 a.m. at Chennai’s Besant Nagar cremation.
P Subramaniam was a Malayali native Palakkad, Kerala. He wedded Mohini, a Sindhi from Kolkata and in 1971, on May 1, the two were blessed with Ajith Kumar. The actor also has two siblings Anup Kumar, an investor, and Anil Kumar, an IIT Madras graduate-turned-entrepreneur.

As soon as the news broke, fans and famous people posted condolences on their social media accounts for P Subramaniam. Actress Sakshi Agarwal took to her Twitter page to pay respects. She commented, “My Heartfelt Condolences to #AjithKumar sir & family..! May god grant them strength to survive this loss.”

Ajith Kumar and his family shared the news by releasing a press note. It stated, “Our father, P.S. Mani, passed away in the early hours of this morning, in his sleep, following a protracted illness. He was 85. We are grateful for the care and assistance provided to him and our family by a number of medical experts, especially following his devastating stroke four years ago. We are reassured, at this time of sadness, that he led a good life and knew the undying love of our mother, his companion of nearly six decades.”
