New Delhi: Kannada action flick ‘Kantara’ did not just garner rave reviews from the viewers as well as the critics, but also turned out to be so popular that makers had to re-release the movie in Hindi on pan-India scale amid heavy demands. Kantara’s Hindi version received electrifying love from the audience across the country as it drew huge masses to the theatres despite seeing a clash with significant titles such as Black Adam, Ram Setu, and Thank God.
After the immense success of movie at the global box office, digital viewers have been waiting for it to stream online for some time now. Finally, the OTT rights of the film have been sold to Amazon Prime Video and can be released on the platform soon. Though, the makers have not revealed the date of Kantara’s digital debut yet.
About the film
The action drama is written and directed by Rishab Shetty, who is also the male lead in the movie. Backed by Vijay Kiraganduru’s Hombale Films, it features Sapthami Gowda in lead opposite Shetty. Apart from the original Kannada version, the movie is also available in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Hindi.
The film revolves around a fictional tale of a tribal village in South Karnataka and an epic saga of their diety, the ‘Varha’ avatar of Lord Vishnu. As the evil forces tries to erupt bloodshed against the villagers and claim their lands, the lead character Shiva goes through a significant transformation in order to protect its people.
Kantara has performed exceptionally at the box office, grossing more than Rs 200 crore globally.
