New Delhi: Renowned composer Rochak Kohli has come forward to defend the remake version of the Pasoori song, stating that it was crafted with the “best available talent.”
In a recent interview, Kohli revealed that both Ali Sethi, the original singer, and Arijit Singh, who performed the remake, were aware of the potential reactions even before the song was created. He emphasized that the song received approval from the original creators.
During an interaction with News18, Rochak Kohli shared his perspective, stating, “We cannot stop any kind of reaction. Even before we created the remake, everyone, including Ali and Arijit, expected such reactions because it is like disrupting something that has been done really well.” He acknowledged that initial reactions were based on the idea of recreating Pasoori, as many people had not even heard the song. Kohli noted that although the song faced considerable backlash upon its Monday morning release, as more people listened to it, their reactions turned more positive, realizing that it wasn’t as bad as initially expected.
Regarding the intentions behind the remake, Kohli stated, “We made the song with honest intentions and with the best available talent. The song has all approval by the original creators. Also, we make sure that we don’t hurt anyone’s sentiments. The original song was poetic and in Punjabi; we decided to simplify it and keep it in Hindi. There were many challenges, but overall, we are very satisfied with the new version.”
In response to Pakistani singer Shae Gill expressing her unawareness of the remake, Kohli emphasized that she was not the creator of the song. He clarified that the rights to the song belonged to Ali Sethi and Coke Studio, with whom they maintained contact and obtained all the necessary rights for the recreation.
Arijit Singh and Tulsi Kumar have lent their soulful voice to the recreated version of the popular Pakistani track for the film “Satyaprem Ki Katha”. The music video showcases Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani synchronizing their lip movements with the song’s lyrics while dressed in white attire. The new version has received mixed reviews by the audience.
