Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani: CBFC Cuts References to Mamata Banerjee and Lok Sabha from Alia-Ranveer’s Film

New Delhi: “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani” is a highly anticipated film of the year, starring popular actors Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles. Currently, the actors, along with filmmaker Karan Johar, are engaged in promoting the movie. Recently, it was revealed that the movie has received certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) after some content edits were made.

CBFC Imposes Cuts

According to reports, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has made certain changes and edits to the movie “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani” before granting it a U/A certificate.

• The offensive word ‘b***d’ has been replaced with ‘behen di.’
• The word ‘bra’ has been substituted with ‘item.’
• The well-known rum brand Old Monk has been changed to ‘Bold Monk.’
• Three dialogues have been completely cut from the film, including references to Lok Sabha and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata
• Banerjee, as well as a scene in a lingerie shop that was deemed to be disrespectful towards women.
• An alteration has also been made to the Rabindranath Tagore scene, which was prominently featured in the trailer and caught everyone’s attention.

Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani brings back Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh for their second onscreen collaboration after Gully Boy. This film also marks Karan Johar’s return to the director’s chair after a 7-year hiatus. The romantic comedy-drama tells the story of Rocky and Rani, who fall in love and face opposition from their families. The movie features veteran actors Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, and Shabana Azmi in important roles. Additionally, acclaimed Bengali actors Churni Ganguly and Tota Roy Chowdhury portray Alia Bhatt’s family members in the film. Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani is scheduled for release on July 28, 2023.
