New Delhi: Director and producer Karan Johar’s latest romantic comedy film Rocky aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani minted a massive amount on Sunday, recording the highest collection so far in three days. The Sunday collection of the film witnessed a rise of nearly 15-20 percent from its Saturday collection which was Rs 16 crores and overdrive to an estimate of Rs 19 crore as per industry tracker Taran Adarsh.

On the day of its release i.e. Friday, the film made a box office collection of Rs 11.5 crore making an underwhelming collection by a film starring Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh. But it rose in the following three days and pushed the overall collection to Rs 46 crores. With this, the film marked the record for the fourth-highest weekend-grossing film of the year after Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathan, Salman Khan’s Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, and Prabha s’s Mythological epic Adipurush. According to some trade estimates Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani made a decent worldwide collection whooping to Rs 85 crores.
With positive trending over the first weekend, eyes will be on its crucial Monday collection where the film is estimated to gross an amount of Rs 6 crore. If the film manages to hold its collection this Monday, then it will be able to survive the second week as well.
Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani is likely to cross the other films of a similar genre released this year including Vicky Kaushal’s Zara Hatke Zara Bachke (Rs 87cr) and Satyaprem Ki Katha (Rs 80 cr) and Tu Jhooti Mai Makkar which clocked Rs, 149 crores
