RRR actor Ray Stevenson passes away at 58, SS Rajamouli expresses grief

New Delhi: Ray Stevenson, well known in India for his role as British Governor Scott Buxton in SS Rajamouli’s RRR, died at the age of 58. He was also renowned for his roles in the Thor movie as an Asgardian warrior and as a soldier of the 13th Legion in HBO’s Rome. RRR’s main social media accounts ensured the news. SS Rajamouli has also sent a message of condolence on the actor’s demise.

In a mournful message, RRR director SS Rajamouli condoled the late actor’s demise. On Twitter, he shared a photo from the film’s set and said, “Shocking… I can’t believe what I’m hearing. Ray provided a lot of energy and vibrancy to the shows. It was contagious. It was a pleasure to work with him. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. “May his soul find peace.”


Many of the actor’s followers expressed their condolences in the comments section. “Actors rarely capture the camera,” a fan commented. He had such a strong screen presence. God bless his soul and give his family strength. I hoped there was more of him on the screen.” “So heartbreaking,” said another. He was an excellent actor. His performance in RRR was incredible!! You will be sorely missed. RIP.”

Ray was also recognised for his performances in Marvel’s Thor series as Volstagg and Vikings as Othere. He has previously voiced Gar Saxon in the animated Star Wars series The Clone Wars and Rebels, and he was supposed to appear alongside Rosario Dawson in Disney’s planned The Mandalorian spinoff Ashoka.
